- Synopsis / Plot
- A dark comedy about a kidnapping scheme in Mexico City. A night in the life of Oscar Cabos (CEO of a huge company), two of his bachelor co-workers, a retired Mexican wrestler, his bodyguard, and two more guys who decide to take a janitor out. What can go wrong? Everything! This madcap, fast paced, Pulp Fiction style comedy comes equipped with kidnappings, witty dialogue, and stolen cars—leading to one of the greatest car crashes in film history. Nothing is what it seems in Alejandro Lozano’s outstanding directorial debut, which premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. An eclectic Mexican cast, including Gustavo Sanchez Parra (Amores Perros), Pedro Armendáriz, Jr. (Once Upon A Time In Mexico), and a collection of gifted newcomers, charm the screen in this wild and explosive action excursion. Top it all off with an outrageously campy script and bold editing, and this Mexican gem is a must see. Nominated for five Mexican Oscars and winner of three MTV-Mexico Movie Awards (including “Sexo más Bizarro”!), MATANDO CABOS is a witty homage to the cinema of Scorsese, Tarantino, Jarmusch, and Guy Ritchie—with a distinctly south-of-the-border twist.
